- Here's how: Wash textiles without any finish or fabric softener before painting. Place baking paper between the layers of fabric to protect them. Fix the paint application in the air for at least 3 days. To speed up the wash resistance, cover the fabric with baking paper after a drying time of 6 hours and fix it with an iron on the cotton setting for 5 minutes or fix it in the oven for 8 minutes at 150 °C. Painted textiles can be washed inside out at up to 60 °C.
